General Questions

Do you offer custom rugs?

Yes! You can find our collection of customizable rugs here. If you have something else in mind, email us at hello@saintridge.com, and we'll work with our artisan partners to create it for you.

Why does my rug have creases?

It's completely normal for rugs to develop creases or folds during shipping. The good news is they usually disappear on their own within a few days to a week once the rug is unrolled and laid flat. To speed up the process, you can reverse roll the rug or place heavy objects on the creases.

My rug looks different in person. Why?

We understand that it can be disappointing if a rug doesn't look exactly as you imagined. There are a few reasons why your rug might look slightly different in person:

Lighting: The lighting in your home may differ from the natural lighting used for our product photography.

Screen Settings: Every screen displays colors differently. Your monitor's calibration and brightness settings can affect how the rug's colors appear.

Handmade Variations: Each handmade rug is unique. Slight variations in color, texture, and pattern are part of their charm and a testament to their handcrafted nature.

If you're not completely satisfied, check out our return policy.

Why does my rug have imperfections?

Handmade rugs are made using natural materials like wool and vegetable dyes, which can have subtle variations in color and texture.

The weaving process itself, done by hand on a loom, can also lead to slight irregularities in the patterns and knots. These variations are not mistakes but rather inherent qualities of the handcrafting process, contributing to the rug's unique character and value. We call it "the charm of the hand."

Rug Care

How do I care for my rug?

Your SAINT RIDGE rug is a unique piece of art, handcrafted with love and steeped in cultural heritage. To ensure its beauty and longevity, follow these simple care instructions:

Regular Maintenance:

  • Shaking: If your rug is small enough to manage, take it outside and give it a good shake once a week to prevent dust and dirt from settling into the rug fibers.
  • Vacuuming: Vacuum your rug regularly on a low-power setting in the direction of the pile to prevent fiber damage.
  • Rotating: Rotate your rug every 3-6 months to ensure even wear and sun exposure.
  • Padding: Use a rug pad to prevent slipping, reduce wear, and provide cushioning.
  • Spills: Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid rubbing, which can spread the stain deeper into the fibers. If needed, added water sparingly and blot to dilute the stain. If the stain persists, try adding a mild, colorless detergent and continue to blot. For more stubborn stains, please contact a professional rug cleaner.

Professional Cleaning:

  • We recommend professional rug cleaning every couple of years to maintain the rug's vibrant colors and remove embedded dirt. Always choose a reputable rug cleaner who specializes in hand-woven rugs.

Additional Tips:

  • Sunlight: Try to avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. Curtains or blinds can protect your rug from prolonged exposure.
  • Pets: Trim your pets' nails regularly to prevent snagging the rug's fibers.
  • Shedding: Some shedding is normal for hand-woven rugs. Regular vacuuming will help minimize this.

By following these care instructions, your SAINT RIDGE rug can be enjoyed for generations to come!

Do I need a rug pad?

Yes, we highly recommend using a rug pad for several reasons:

  • Safety: Rug pads prevent slipping and sliding, making your rug safer to walk on and reducing the risk of tripping.
  • Protection: They protect your floors from scratches and damage caused by friction between the rug and the floor.
  • Preservation: Rug pads cushion the impact of foot traffic, extending the life of your rug and preventing premature wear and tear.
  • Comfort: They add a layer of cushioning, making your rug feel softer and more comfortable underfoot.
My rug is shedding. Is that normal?

Yes! Shedding is normal for rugs made with natural fibers like wool, especially those with higher piles. Much like a new sweater sheds when you first wear it, loose fibers also work their way out of a rug's pile throughout its life. With regular vacuuming and proper care, shedding will decrease over time.
